Chronic Dieting

INTUITIVE EATING DIETITIAN BALLARAT & ONLINE

Chronic dieting

The world around us can really do a number on our relationship with food, our bodies and ourselves.  Diet culture, fatphobia, systems of oppression as well as personal experiences we have had can have a huge impact on how we relate to food and how we feel in our bodies.

This can show up in our relationship with food in lots of ways, such as
  • Hopping from one diet to the next and feeling less confident about how to eat
  • Feeling like you can’t control yourself around particular foods, or that there are some foods you shouldn’t keep in the house
  • Finding yourself stuck in a restrict/binge cycle with your eating
  • Feeling guilty or anxious about what or how much you are eating
  • Feeling overwhelmed and confused about nutrition
  • Being unsure about how you can support your health in a way that doesn’t add to worries about food
  • Disordered eating or eating disorder behaviours

It can feel exhausting to try and manage food and body concerns alone.

So, let’s work on this together.

How I can help

Our work together will always be specific to you, however some examples of how I could support you are:
  • Unpacking and starting to challenge unhelpful beliefs about food that are keeping you stuck
  • Support with building your confidence with food and eating again
  • Support to let go of food fears, so that you can have any food in your house without worry
  • Experimenting with eating more regularly, particularly if you find that you go for long periods without eating during your day
  • If accessible to you: support to notice, understand and honour your body cues around hunger, fullness and satiety.
  • Guidance to approach your relationship with food and your body at your pace and with curiosity in mind, rather than pressure or judgement.
  • Support for nutrition impacts of neurodivergence, mental health or health conditions, if relevant to you

Hi, I'm Melissa

I love working with people who are looking for support to let go of dieting and food worries to find more ease with their eating.

I am weight inclusive and HAES-aligned, which means that rather than weight loss being the focus, instead we can explore ways to support your relationship with food, your body and yourself – just as you are.

I’d love to support you in letting go of food overwhelm and rediscovering all the pleasure, novelty, safety and connection that a more peaceful relationship with food can offer.
