Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you help?

I specialise in supporting adult women (18+ and out of school) to work through their eating concerns and find a more positive relationship with food and their bodies.  If you are male and/or under 18 and would like help with your eating behaviours you are welcome to get in touch and I can provide details of another dietitian who could provide assistance.
Will you help me to lose weight?

I understand that before starting work together and perhaps for a while after, you may have the desire to lose weight.  This is understandable given the weight loss obsessed society we have all grown up in, as well as any additional personal experiences you may have had.  However, actively trying to lose weight disrupts progress towards forming a trusting relationship with your body and a healthy relationship with food.

When working together, you are encouraged to discuss any food, body image and weight concerns you may have, however I'll also ask you to put your weight loss desire to the side.  This will then allow us to work through your food and body image concerns, so that you are able to form sustainable health and nutrition behaviours in your body right now - exactly as you are.
Can you help me manage my nutrition related health condition?

Yes, I can help you manage your health and nutrition whilst also supporting you to find a positive relationship with food and your body.  I have a particular interest in helping women manage nutrition related symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), however if you are experiencing another health condition and would like to know if it is something I can help you with, please get in touch using the form above.
Do you work with people with eating disorders?

Yes, I provide nutrition support to adult women (18+ and finished school) experiencing eating disorders who are medically stable and supported by both their psychologist and GP.  Medicare rebates are available if you have an Eating Disorder Plan for both in person and online appointments if you are eligible.
Do I need a referral to see you?

No, you don't need a referral for us to work together.  However, if you intend on claiming Medicare rebates for a Chronic Disease Management Plan or an Eating Disorder Plan please see your GP to obtain an appropriate referral if eligible.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate and private health insurance rebate on the same consultation?

Even if you are eligible for both a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate, it is not possible to claim both on one consultation.
