Binge Eating and Binge Eating Disorder

BINGE EATING DIETITIAN BALLARAT & ONLINE

Binge Eating

The way we relate to food and our bodies can be impacted by many of our experiences.
Personal experiences growing up and into adulthood, diet culture, fatphobia and systems of oppression can all have an effect on our relationship with food and our bodies.

Binge eating at times, or the development of Binge Eating Disorder, can show up in response to these experiences, and can result in:
  • Feeling out of control around food or like you can’t trust your body
  • Feeling guilt after eating specific foods or after eating in general
  • Eating emotionally or to soothe yourself
  • Cycling through diets or food restrictions in an effort to feel more in control, resulting in feeling more out of control with food after
  • Feeling lost about how to eat and unsure about how to move forward

You don’t have to work out how to manage binge eating alone.

Let’s work on this together.

How I can help

Our work together will always be individualised to you and your situation, however some examples of what we could explore together are:
  • Rebuilding trust with your body, and bringing the pleasure and enjoyment back into your relationship with food
  • Finding a more frequent and satisfying eating pattern throughout your day - particularly if you are going long periods during your day not eating enough, or trying to avoid foods you enjoy
  • As you feel ready to, gentle support to include all foods without fear – even the ones you feel like you can’t keep in the house
  • Approaching your eating experiences with non-judgement, compassion and curiosity
  • Letting go of the idea of foods being ‘good’ or ‘bad’
  • Support with emotional eating if you are finding that this also impacts your eating patterns
  • Support for nutrition impacts of other factors also impacting your relationship with food, such as a health condition, neurodivergence or mental health, whilst continuing to prioritise your relationship with food and your body
  • All nutrition care provided is weight inclusive, gender affirming, neuro-affirming and trauma informed

Hi, I'm Melissa

I love working with people wanting dietitian support with binge eating experiences or Binge Eating Disorder, to let go of food overwhelm and find more calm with their eating.

Working towards food and body peace can sometimes be up and down, and I can be alongside you along the way. I am weight inclusive and HAES-aligned, which means that rather than weight loss being the focus, instead we can explore ways to support your relationship with food, your body and yourself – just as you are.
